Hook & Virality Scorer

Score a title, hook, or opening line for scroll-stopping power and get back a 0-100 number with a letter grade. It's built for short-form creators and copywriters who are sitting on five title ideas and want a fast, repeatable way to pick one instead of arguing about it. Pass a batch of variants and it ranks them best-first.

How it works

It runs a deterministic rule pass over the text. It counts curiosity phrases, emotion and high-stakes words, power words, numbers, questions, and "you"/"I" framing, then scores six weighted dimensions and applies penalties for filler and excess ALL-CAPS. No AI, no API calls, so the same input always returns the same score.

Input

You don't have to set anything beyond the text. Pass text for one string or texts for a batch.

FieldRequiredNotes
textsnoArray of titles/hooks/scripts to score. Strings or objects (it reads title, hook, text, or scriptText). Pass several to compare variants.
textnoA single title or hook, as an alternative to the array.
typenoauto, title, or script. Auto treats anything up to 18 words as a title. Controls the length scoring. Default auto.
rankResultsnoSort output best-first and add a rank. Default true.

At least one of text or texts must resolve to a non-empty string, otherwise the run fails.

Output

One dataset item per scored hook. Each item has the score (0-100), grade (A through F), and the original text, plus a breakdown object with the per-dimension points (curiosity, emotion, powerWords, specificity, relatability, length), a signals object listing exactly what it matched (word count, numbers, questions, the specific power/curiosity/emotion/filler words found), and a suggestions array of concrete rewrites for whatever scored low. When ranking is on, items also carry a rank.

Example

{
  "texts": [
    "I tried the viral 5am routine for 30 days",
    "You won't believe what happened when I confronted my MIL",
    "My morning routine"
  ],
  "type": "auto",
  "rankResults": true
}

Pricing

$0.003 per hook scored — $3.00 per 1,000 — plus a $0.0000125 run-start fee each time a run begins. Flat rate: no volume tiers, no plan gates, no subscription, and you are charged only for hooks actually scored.

There is no AI key to buy and no third-party API bill behind it, so the number above is the whole cost. Scoring 20 title variants in one batch run costs $0.06 plus the fraction-of-a-cent start fee.

Notes

The scoring is keyword and pattern based and tuned for English. It rewards the usual viral signals (open loops, stakes, specificity), so treat it as a fast first-pass filter and A/B comparison tool, not a guarantee that a high-scoring hook will actually go viral.
